Summary
Reporting to the Emergency Director of Patient Care Services/Shift
Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning,
directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized
patient care using the components of the nursing processPosition

1. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each
patient in collaboration with members of the health care team and
provides care based on that plan. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - -2. Ensures patient safety by assessing and proactively
implementing safety measures with specific consideration of
patient's functional and developmental age. - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - - - - - -3. Provides appropriate nursing
interventions. -Competent in all routine nursing skills, including:
(1) medication administration, (2) intravenous therapy, (3)
management of indwelling catheters and drains, and (4) safe use of

- -4. Functions in the capacity of Charge Nurse per unit Charge
Nurse guidelines, when assigned. -Ensures that the operations and
nursing care follow Medical Center and department policies and
standards. -Keeps Manager/ Director informed when difficulties
and/or unusual situations occur. -Provides for allotted meal and

tasks to ancillary personnel based on individual competency and

Demonstrates the ability to organize workload, set priorities, and

that demonstrates knowledge and consideration of age specific and
cultural differences. -Modifies nursing care to meet the age
specific requirements of the newborn (0 to 30 days), infant (31
days to 1 year), pediatric (1 to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17
years), adult (18 to 70 years), and geriatric (71+ years) patients.

not limited to: growth and development, medications, and special
physical and psychosocial needs. -Modifies nursing care as
